Murray in the frame to coach Raducanu full time?

Having already axed two coaches in her short pro career, first Andy Murray’s father-in-law Nigel Sears then Tim Henman’s best man Andrew Richardson, Emma Raducanu has been spotted training with former British No. 1Jeremy Bates ahead of her return to action in Indian Wells this week.

Could Bates be in the frame to work with Raducanu one to one on a full time basis?

Perhaps.

His impeccable credentials include knowing the game inside-out, firstly as the best British men’s player in the 1990’s followed by many years coaching for the LTA.

However it is more likely to be because 59 year old Bates is at the event in his role as the Lawn Tennis Association’s national coach keeping track of the leading British women, including  British number six Katie Boulter, who he has been coaching for several years.

Raducanu is on the look out for a tour level experienced full time coach before the end of the season as she prepares for her first year on the WTA tour in 2022, starting with the Australian Open in January.

As the new World No. 22 she will be automatically in the main draw.

Long-term Andy Murray is thought to be among five coaching possibilities Emma Raducanu could consider.
