Djoko to skip Shanghai after Beijing title miracle

Novak Djokovic is wisely choosing not to tempt fate, with the China Open winner withdrawing on Wednesday on opening day of the Shanghai Masters.

The 39-year-old who defeated three top 10 opponents on his way to the 102nd title of his career, will miss the trip north to China’s commercial capital/

With Djokovic absent and world No. 1 Jannik  Sinner also missing the event after ending his season early to heal a knee injury, Alexander Zverev and Carlos Alcaraz will headline the event..

Beaten Beijing finalist Alex de Minaur could also become a casualty in Shanghai after quitting the final against Djokovic in the second set with a pulled adductor muscle.
