Davis Cup ‘dream come true’ for Alcaraz

Carlos Alcaraz didn’t believe he had been called up for Davis Cup duty this week – he had to ask again it was true.

The 18-year-old teen sensation has had an outstanding 2021, including winning the Next Gen ATP Finals.

“It means a lot to represent Spain in the Davis Cup for the first time, when the captain told me I didn’t believe it,” Alcaraz said.

“It was a dream I had since I was a child and to be able to fulfil it when I’m 18 years old is super nice and super special.”

Alcaraz joins Roberto Bautista Agut, Pablo Carreno Busta, Feliciano Lopez and Marcel Granollers in the team selected by team captain Sergi Bruguera.

“All my teammates are great professionals, and so is Sergi Bruguera. I hope I can learn from them in all areas,” Alcaraz said.
