Sinner success means historic Vienna final

Jannik Sinner will line up in Sunday’s Vienna final against Daniil Medvedev after becoming the first Italian man in modern tennis history to win 55 matches in a season

The ATP No. 4 nailed down the record in Saturday’s semi-final victory over Andrey Rublev 7-5, 7-6 (5).

Sinner needed just under two hours for the win advancing into the title match with 26 winners, including 10 aces.

The Italian defeated Medvedev in their last match, played this month in Beijing – an event which Sinner won.

But world No. 3 Medvedev had claimed victory in the previous six meetings; Sinner will be seeking his fourth title of the season.
