Sinner soars to Vienna victory

Jannik Sinner denied Daniil Medvedev the first repeat title of his career with a 7-6 (7), 4-6, 6-3 victory to win the ATP event in Vienna on Sunday.

The Italian needed more than three hours at the Stadthalle to beat the top seed; the result prevented Medvedev from backing up the trophy he won here in 2022.

All 20 of his career titles have been claimed at different venues.

Sinner duplicated the win he earned over ATP No. 3 Medvedev in the Beijing final three weeks ago,

The Italian saved a pair of break points in the opening set here and broke in the fourth game of the final set after nine break chances.

Sinner finished victory on a second match point, winning his second match after losing six to Medvedev.

The winner has claimed 40 ATP hard court wins in a season for the first time and owns 2023 titles from Montpellier and Toronto among the 10 and counting of his career..

Both Medvedev and Sinner are qualified for the ATP Finals in Turin from November 12.
