Sinner soars to victory in first post-AO outing

Jannik Sinner earned a quick win in his first match since lifting the Australian Open title, with the Italian advancing into the second round on Wednesday at the ATP RotterdamĀ event.

The world No. 4 who beat Daniil Mdevedev in the Melbourne final, put out Dutchman Botic Van De Zandschulp 6-3, 6-3 in 87 minutes.

Sinner, 22, has now won his last 11 matches, repeating his first-round defeat of his local opponent from the Open a month ago.

The Italian has a chance to break through into the No. 3 ranking spot if he wins the final in the Dutch port city.
