Sabalenka powers way to semi spot

No.2 seed Aryna Sabalenka eased into her second Grand Slam semi-final with a 6-1, 6-4 straight sets win over French Open champion Barbora Krejcikova at the US Open.

Sabalenka, who made the semis at Wimbledon in July, needed 86 minutes to eventually see off Krejcikova and book her place in tube last four.

The win was secured on thew back of some superb power, behind a solid fist serve and Sabalenka completely overwhelmed Krejcikova on return, hitting 21 winners to Krejcikova’s 14.

Sabalenka will take on Leylah Fernandez of Canada in the semi-final.
