Report: Jailed Becker aiming for fast-track UK exit

Boris Becker could be out of a British jail and back in his birthplace of Germany by Christmas if London media reports prove accurate.

British tabloid media reported that the six-time Grand Slam champion jailed in April for fraudulent bankruptcy has applied for a fast-track deportation system for foreign prisoners.

The former great was handed two and a half years in prison, with the usual guidance meaning he would only serve half of the hard time anyway.

But the German who turns 55 this month might find himself on his way out of Britain much earlier than anticipated.

The scheme allows “any foreign national serving a fixed sentence who is liable for removal from the UK to be removed from prison and deported up to 12 months before the earliest release point of their sentence.”

Submitting to deportation means a further cut in the sentence, which translates to “deportation up to 12 months before the earliest release point of their sentence.”

A Becker spokesman told London’s Sun: “”We are pleased for Boris that he may qualify for an early release and be able to travel to Germany, albeit England has been his home for many, many years. I’m sure it will mean a lot to him and his family to be reunited for Christmas.”

Media reports have said Becker is teaching yoga to fellow inmates in his all-foreigner lockup in Oxfordshire as well as providing guidance in the Greek philosophy of Stoicism to maximise positive emotions.
