Red-hot Halep dominates Martic

Simona Halep cruised last Croatia’s Petra Martic 6-1, 6-1 to reach the Indian Wells semifinals on Wednesday afternoon.

Halep, who won the event in 2015, will meet Iga Swiatek next after a dominating performance that included winning 14 points in a row in the first set.

The second was just as impressive as she rolled off 10 straight before Martic grabbed her first break points, but Halep bounced back and took int to 5-1.

With Halep serving for the match, Martic offered late resistance to claim her third break point of the day but Halep won out int a lengthy rally to take the tie.

“I think probably [that was my] best match of this year,” Halep said.

“I felt super well. I felt confident. I’ve been aggressive. Everything I had to do I did, and it was pretty good.”
