Raducanu queen of the Grand Slam champion jungle

Emma Raducanu knocked off Victoria Azarenka 6-0, 6-2 on Wednesday to add the two-time Cincinnati Masters winner to her victim’s list this week at the US Open run-up tournament.

The 19-year-old Brit who will defend her US Open titles starting in less than a fortnight in New York, followed up on her first-round thrashing of Serena Williams less than 24 hours earlier.

Raducanu  handed double Australian Open champion Azarenka her worst defeat since Cincinnati a year ago when she was beaten by the same scoreline in the third round by Ash Barty.

Raducanu ran off 10 games before Azarenka managed to win one; the youngster calmly saved two break points as she served for her ticket to the third round in 63 minutes.

“I played a great match for sure,” 10th seed Raducanu said. “To play Vika like that I had to stay focused.

“In the second set I could feel the important moments. I’m pleased with how I dug in and served it out.”
