Emma Raducanu’s participation at Wimbledon is in doubt after she cancelled a scheduled practice session at the last minute on Friday.
Raducanu was due to hit out with Garbine Muguruza as part of a new plan to allow players to use the venue’s two biggest courts in advance of the championships and “play them in”.
Muguruza and her coach Conchita Martinez came out onto court without her before a Wimbledon official revealed a different player had been found to hit with the Spaniard.
The British No. 1 has struggling with a side strain and has been monitored by physios.
Sources close to Raducanu could not rule out an aggravation of the injury, when asked for an update from British media.
Raducanu is due to meet Alison Van Utyvanck in the first round on Monday and could face fellow Brit Lily Miyazaki in the second round if she overcomes Carolina Garcia.
