Players in the money at US Open

First-round losers will pocket the equivalent of a decent annual salary after the US Open on Thursday announced a record prize pot totalling USD 60 million.

While the early losers will walk with USD 80,000 – a massive 85 per cent increase – the big money goes to trophy holders, with the last man and woman standing winning USD 2.6 million each

Even qualifying rounds which begin next week is funded by USD 6.26 million, a rise of more than 200 per cent.
