One more hurdle to go for brave Brit Francesca Jones

20 year old Brit Francesca Jones who was told as a child that her rare physical condition would preclude her from having a career in tennis that she craved stands one qualifying match away from next month’s Australian Open main draw.

She won her second round qualifier beating Croat Jana Fett 7-6,2-6,6-1 to notch up her second win over a top 100 player in two days.

Now only China’s world number 200 Lu Jiajing stands in the way of a remarkable achievement in her maiden Grand Slam.

Francesca is the sole remaining Briton in the Australian Open qualifying event which is being held this year in Dubai because of the strict Australian Government COVID-19 travel protocols which will permit only qualifiers to be flown by Private charters into quarantine in Melbourne  prior to the start of the first Grand slam of 2021 which begins on 8 February
