Australian Open finalist Daniil Medvedev will take over the world No. 2 ranking on March 15 behind Novak Djokovic, the ATP confirmed on Saturday.
The certainty over the change comes with the release of draws for Tour tournaments next week in Doha, Marseille and Santiago.
The sanctioning body telegraphed the move in a tweet, with the Russian set to send Rafael Nadal down to third, with Djokovic secure in the top spot.
Medvedev will become the first new face to enter the Top 2 since July 25, 2005; the historic Big 4 lineup of Roger Federer, Nadal, Djokovic and Andy Murray have dominated the standings since that date.
Nadal and Djokovic have traded the top two spots back and forth since June 6, 2017.
