Medvedev stuns Alcaraz to reach IW final

11th seed Daniil Medvedev shocked Carlos Alcaraz 6-3, 7-6 (2) in front of a 16,000 crowd on Stadium Court at the Tennis Garden, ending the Spaniard’s perfect 16-match winning start to his 2026 season.

The win also chalked off a potential match-up between Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, the world No’s 1 and 2 having shared the last nine Grand Slam titles.

Medvedev played an almost perfect first set.

“Every time I step on the court,” Medvedev said, “I need to feel like I can win. The serve saved me a couple of times.”

With this win, Medvedev reached his first ATP Masters 1000 final since reaching the Indian Wells title match in 2024.

The former World No. 1 will face Jannik Sinner in Sunday’s Indian Wells championship match, with the Italian holding an 8-7 lead in their Head2Head matchups.
