Medvedev a step away from breakthrough title repeat

Daniil Medvedev moved to within one win of a career highlight thanks to a 6-4, 7-6 (6) defeat of Stefanos Tsisipas on Saturday which put him into a second straight final at the ATP Vienna event.

World No. 3 Medvedev owns 20 career titles – but none have been claimed at the same venue.

The has a chance to remedy that statistic in the Sunday final in the Austrian capital

The winner advanced with just 10 unforced errors to reach the 36th ATP final of his career and ninth of this season.

Medvedev has now won nine of 13 meetings with Greek Tsitsipas; he leads the ATP in 2023 with 65 match wins, one ahead of Carlos Alcaraz.

Tsitsipas failed to reach a fourth final this season but looks ready to join Medvedev in the eight-man field at the ATP Finals iN turin which start on November 12.
