Kyrgios injury KO ends doubles for Kokkinakis

The shock wrist injury pullout of Nick Kyrgios from Wimbledon has left double partner Thanasi Kokkinakis high and dry in doubles.

The Aussie duo’s hopes for the grass court major were shattered as Kyrgios – dealing for half a year with a knee surgery comeback – withdrew from the major at the last moment citing a wrist injury.

The 30th seed who reached the final a year ago against Novak Djokovic was replaced in the draw by lucky loser Fabian Marozsan.

Kokkinakis and Kyrgios won the Australian Open in 2022 but have never come close to that achievement since.

The 90th-ranked Kokkinakis now finds his Wimbledon over before it began after losing in the first round of singles qualifying last week.
