Kyrgios bags US Open as ranking set to crash

Nick Kyrgios is set for a ranking collapse after withdrawing from the US Open.

The decision, announced on Thursday as the entry list was released, means that the 2022 Wimbledon finalist will have missed all four Grand Slams this season due to injury.

The controversial Aussie underwent a knee procedure in January after withdrawing from the Australian Open.

His lone match of 2023 was a first-round loss last June in Stuttgart to a Chinese opponent.

Kyrgios is poised for a fall from his current 92nd ranking, with his status headed in only one direction until he returns to tennis.

He also withdrew from the Cincinnati Masters event next week.
