Novak Djokovic suffered an untimely wrist injury during his 6-4,6-4 loss to Alex de Minaur in a United Cup play off game..

This was the Serb’s first defeat in Australia in 43 matches.

With the Australian Open only two weeks away this will be a major concern for the current Melbourne title holder.

This forces players to constantly adapt their game and several recent injuries have been blamed on non-standardisation of the balls used.

Nick Kyrgios was also quick add his voice on social media and demanded for urgent action to be taken by the ATP.

@NickKyrgios:- Change of balls every week finally got to novaks wrist the atp really need to do something about this problem. Players suffer all the time.
