FAA flies to 11th straight victory

Felix Auger-Aliassime ran his current hot streak to 11 straight matches on Friday, hammering Alexander Bublic 6-2, 6-3 for another quick-fire victory at the Swiss Indoors.

The Canadian seeded third is now two wins away from a third-consecutive ATP title after winning Florence and Antwerp this month.

He is also gaining strength in the race for the last of the places at the eight man ATP Finals set for Turin from November 13; now currently stands provisional seventh.

After taking less than an hour to advance in the previous round, FAA needed

just 73 minutes to move into the semis at the St Jakobshalle, sending over 28 winners and just four unforced errors.

“It was a good match. It is so important for me to stay disciplined and focus on my serve,” the winner said.

“I haven’t been broken in the whole tournament and today was a good effort on staying focused on my serve. I was able to seize a few opportunities.

A break of serve in the opening game, sent him on his way: “The first break was important. To take that pressure off myself from the beginning. It is the best way to start the match.

“In the past two months, I have been training much better and very locked in and focused on what I need to do and I am trying to put it on display.”

Auger-Aliassime claimed his 51st season win, which includes three titles.
