Draper joins Raducanu on grass sidelines

British tennis will be without another young gun on the home grass this summer as Jack Draper ruled himself out of the season due to a longstanding injury.

The No. 55 son of a one-time tennis administrator will join Emma Raducanu on the sidelines; she is recovering from surgeries on wrist  and an ankle.

British No. 3 Draper played his last match when he retired last week in the French Open first round.

“It’s clear my shoulder is going to need time and rehab to get back to where it needs to be,” he said in a statement.

“My team and I have made the difficult decision to miss the grass court season this year.

“I guess in this sport there are so many ups and downs but this one is tough to take. The only thing for sure is that I will keep persevering.

“Thank you for all the support I get on here it means a lot…”
