Djokovic loses appeal to stay in Australia

World No. 1 Novak Djokovic has lost his appeal against the cancellation of his visa and is preparing to leave Australia.

The decision was unanimous from all three Federal judges and he was ordered to pay the legal costs of the government.

Djokovic’s lawyers asked for time to reflect on the decision as the judges did not provide reasons for their decisions, but said they would do so in the coming days.

Djokovic’s only remaining legal avenue is an appeal to the High Court, but that court would need to agree to hear the case. Most applications for leave to appeal to the High Court are rejected.
