Novak Djokovic has rushed to a Belgrade hospital to be with his father after Srdjan Djokovic suffered a fall while feeding birds, Serb media report.
The condition of the elder Djokovic, 63, who broke an upper arm bone which will require surgery, could affect his son’s participation in the Rome Masters beginning next week.
World No 1 Djokovic, without a title this season, is missing the ongoing Madrid Masters by choice as the soon-to-be 37-year-old cuts back his schedule after shaking up his team.
Serb outlet Zurnal said that Djokovic had been due to travel early to Rome for the event which begins next Wednesday.
Reports said Srdjan suffered his accident at home: while feeding birds he somehow tumbled from his chair and hit the floor.
The player’s plan now seem to be up in the air. Djokovic reached the Monte Carlo semi-finals in what could be his only preparation event prior to the May 26 start of Roland Garros.
