Deflated Djokovic pulls from Toronto Masters field

Novak Djokovic withdrew on Sunday from next month’s Toronto Masters, a possible indication that the Serb is taking his Wimbledon finals loss a week ago to Carlos Alcaraz harder than expected.

The Serb was denied a record 23rd Grand Slam singles title as he lost to the Spanish young gun.

The 36 year old has been pictured on holiday in the Balkans but offered up the excuse of “fatigue” to Canadian organisers.

Djokovoic owns four titles in Canada (2007, 2011, 2016 and 2016)  but has not competed in the country since 2018.

He was replaced in the draw by US breakthrough Christopher Eubanks. a surprise Wimbledon quarter-finalist who defeated fifth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas seeded Brit Cam Norrie.
