Coach blames ‘distractions’ on Raducanu dip

England rugby coach Eddie Jones has blamed “distractions” for Emma Raducanu’s dip in form after get US Open triumph.

“What have you seen her on – the front page of Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar or whatever it is, wearing Christian Dior clothes. All that is a distraction around her veteran coach Jones said.

“They all start grounded, but there are a flood of distractions which come in, which can make them ungrounded.”

The seasoned Jones, who has coached Japan, Australia and England and has experience in nurturing young players, added:  :No-one starts with their feet off the ground or they don’t get in the team and they don’t win a US Open.”

Raducanu is in Austria this week preparing for her final tournament of a season at the Upper Linz Classic.

She has been handed a first round bye and is expected to play her first match tomorrow.
