Azarenka Czechs out as Krejcikova crushes former champ

Former Australian Open champion Victoria Azarenka lost out to Czech French Open winner Barbora Krejcikova 6-2, 6-2 on Sunday as the women’s singles continued to throw up surprise results.

Azarenka had to take a medical timeout for treatment to a neck injury during the match as the fourth seed proved too strong.

Krejcikova, who has yet to drop a set at Melbourne Park, won in just under 90 minutes in a dominant display.

“It was really amazing today because she is a champion here and I really admire her,” Krejcikova said.

“It was a dream to play in a court like this and against such a champion.”
