Wozniacki comeback run ended by second-round setback

Caroline Wozniacki’s comeback to tennis suffered a setback in three and a quarter hours on Thursday as the former No. 1 exited the second round of the Miami Masters 5-7, 7-5, 6-4 to Anhelina Kalinina.

The Danish mother of two who is making a post=pregnancy return was unable to match her quarter-final achieved last week in Indian Wells.

Ukrainian 32nd seed Kalinina saved a set point as she rallied from a set down to advance into the third round against the winner from second seed Aryna Sabalenka and Paula Badosa.

Rome finalist Kalinina salvaged a match point as her former No. 1 opponent served for a straight set win up a set and 5-4, with the match eventually heading into a deciding final set.

Wozniacki needed a medical timeout midway through the third set before Kalinina closed out victory.on her fourth winning chance on an ace.
