Wimbledon winners can count on nice pay rise

Wimbledon on Thursday upped the ante for the upcoming Championships with an inflation-busting 11.1 per cent prize money increase.

Men’s and women’s winners at the All England Club will walk with GBP 2 million (USD 2.5 million) from an overall purse totalling GBP 40.4 million (USD 50.3 million.

First-round losers at the event which will have no ranking points after the ATP sanctioned the tournament following its ban on Russian and Belarus entries will bank GBP 50,000 (USD 62,500)
