Wimbledon fan files suit against Kyrgios

A female fan temporarily tossed out of the Wimbledon final after angering Nick Kyrgios has launched a lawsuit against the tournament runner-up.

Polish lawyer Anna Palus, 27, triggered the anger of Kyrgios when he complained of being distracted by her chatter, asking the chair umpire to have her removed.

“The one with the dress, the one who looks like she’s had about 700 drinks, bro!,” he said.

She was briefly escorted out of sight by security, but later allowed to return to her Centre Court seat for the rest of the final won by Novak Djokovic.

Palus is taking Kyrgios to court for his “reckless and entirely baseless allegation.”

Her statement added: “Not only did this cause considerable harm on the day, resulting in my temporary removal from the arena, but Kyrgios’s false allegation was broadcast to, and read by, millions around the world, causing me and my family very substantial damage and distress.” 

The woman who was attending the final with her mother, said that any damages she might win would be donated to charity and called upon Kyrgios to defuse the legal situation.

“I hope that Kyrgios will reflect on the harm he has caused me and my family and offer a prompt resolution to this matter.

“However, if he is unwilling to do this, I am committed to obtaining vindication in the High Court.”

Despite being accused by Kyrgios of distracting him and being “drunk,” Palus said she only had two drinks,

She told London’s Telegraph: “I understand what it is like to be an underdog so I wanted to give him support,” she told the UK Telegraph.

“Maybe I took it too far so for that I am sorry but I only had good intentions.”
