Marketa Vondousova denied the Wimbledon dream for Elina Svitolina, hammering the Ukrainian 6-3, 6-3 on Thursday to move into a second final at a Grand Slam.
The Czech ranked 42nd duplicated her finals performance from Roland Garros, 2019.
The winner will bid for the trophy on Saturday against either Ons Jabeur.
Vondrousova, who missed three of the four Grand Slam last year through injury, took 75 minutes to win through to the Saturday title match.
She broke an error-prone Svitolina six times from 11 chances, losing her own serve twice in the second set as the Ukrainian fought to come back.
“I cannot believe this, I’m very happy to make the final,” the winner said. “Elina is such a fighter and a great person.
“It was a tough match, I had to stay focused and fight for every game.”
The Czech was playing for the first time on Centre Court and felt it: “I was crazy nervous throughout the match,” she confessed.
Vondrousova is the sixth Czech woman to play a Semi-final here and defeated four seeds along her way (No.12 Veronika Kudermetova, No.20 Donna Vekic, No.32 Marie Bouzkova and No.4 Jessica Pegula)
The winner has increased her career grass match total during the fortnight, arriving for this edition with just four grass victories and now standing 10-11 on the surface.
