Marketa Vondrousova is planning to avoid the spotlight as much as possible after being crowned Wimbledon champion at the weekend.

The player who reached 10th in the world as a result of her weekend defeat of Ons Jabeur at the All England Club becomes the second straight “unknown” titleholder after Kazakh Elena Rybakina a year ago.

Vondrousova is all about avoiding pressure as she competes for the next 12 months as a Wimbledon trophyholder.

She laid out her intended strategy upon arriving in Prague on Tuesday heading for her home of Sokolov..

“I know it’s part of the game. I’ll just try to stick to my circle of people and not push in anywhere and hopefully I’ll be OK.

“This is a good problem. Everyone will try to show their best against me,” she said.

“I won a Grand Slam title, but I have to take this into account and learn to live with it.”

After letting a sore ankle rest, she will jump back into tennis with the 1000 event in Montreal the first week of August.

“I’ll have to start training again but I’ll try to avoid publicity as much as I can.
