Iga Swiatek collected her second career trophy on Sunday at the Indian Wells Masters with a 6-4, hammering of Maria Sakkari to win her eight title at the Masters 1000 level.

The world No. 1 backed her success at the Tennis Garden from 2022 as she destroyed Sakkari’s upset hope in 69 minutes, breaking her Greek opponent five times to lift the 19th overall trophy of her WTA career..

The defeat was a re-run of the win over Sakkari here in the 2022 final and marked the third title this season for Swiatek.

The top seed swept the final eight games of her finals rout to secure the honours, with the Pole winning 12 of the fist 15 points of the contest; she has now won the last three matches in the series.The winner stands 19-4 in career finals, winning 17 of them in straight sets.

“I’m really proud of myself. I’m super happy,” the winner said. “Even if the scores looked like I had everything under control, it wasn’t from the beginning to the end so easy. 

“I’m happy I could improve during the tournament. I felt really good in the last two matches, a big amount of confidence. I’m really proud”
