Swiatek faces tough road to AO final

World No. 1 Iga Swiatek is projected to meet American Coco Gauff in the quarter-final of the 2023 Australian Open after the draw for this year’s event was made on Thursday in Melbourne.

Świątek will face Germany’s Jule Niemeier in the first round with Colombian Camilla Osorio a projected second round opponent.

Czech Marię Bouzkova could follow in round three before Gauff in the last eight.

If she were to make to the final there is a projected semifinal clash with American Jessica Pegula before a final showdown with world No.2 Ons Jabeur.
