Speculation builds on when Djoko will quit

The listless exit of Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon semis has naturally sparked frantic speculation on when the 38-year-old might actually hang up his racquet.

The Serb’s future remains hazy after winning the last of his 24 Grand Slam singles titles at the US Open in September, 2023.

Now the tennis talking heads have started to take a guess, with former Australian player Rennae Stubbs now chiming in. 

The 54-year-old has worked as a broadcaster, podcaster and occasional coach since quitting tennis in the early “naughties”

She now figured Djokovic will retire after January’s Australian Open, his most successful slam where he owns the record 10 titles, his last in 2023.

One more would hand the all-time title for most ever won by any player – male or female.

“I think he has hinted that the last Grand Slam will be the Australian Open,’ the ESPN commentator said.

“It’s been his most successful, winning it 10 times. It is clearly the best place for him to win a Grand Slam.

“If he can get to 25, that is probably where he is going to do it. 

“He probably feels that the Australian has been so mercurial in his life, he has had so many dramatic moments, and that is where I think probably will be his last Grand Slam.”
