Jannik Sinner backed up last month’s Australian Open title as he extended his win streak to 14 straight with a 6-2, 6-4 defeat of Tallon Griekspoor on Saturday to reach the ATP Rotterdam final.
The Italian dismissed the top Dutch player and reached second consecutive final here a year after losing to Daniil Medvedev in the port city.
Sinner will bid for the trophy on Sunday against Alex de Minaur after the Spain-based Aussie defeated Grigor Dimitrov 6-4, 6-3 in their earlier semi-final.
“It feels great to be back in the final here,” Sinner said. “I just had a really tough match.
“It’s been a good tournament for me here, but the final will not be easy. I’ve played Alex a few times and he’s difficult.
“But I’m happy to be into another final.”
Sinner finished with 16 winners and half as many unforced errors against Griekspoor, who lost to Sinner in a 2023 semi-final here.
