Italian teen star Jannick Sinner says her isn’t bothered about his ranking after a 2020 tennis season hit by COVID-19.
Sinner, still only 19, long regarded as a star of the future, rose to No. 37 in the rankings after impressive wins over Alexander Zverev at Roland Garros and Stefanos Tsitsipas in Rome.
“I hope that it will be a normal year. I don’t like to look at the ranking. The most important thing is to play as many matches as possible”, Sinner told Sky Sport in Italy.
“Tennis is the most important thing in my life after my family and my friends.”
Sinner said he was looking forward to the delayed Australian Open, which begins in Melbourne on February 8.
“The most important thing is the passion for this sport. It’s necessary to set a goal every day, when you wake up,” he said.
“You have to take into account the difficult moments. If I really like tennis, I am able to overcome all the problems.”
