Andrey Rublev hammered out a 6-2, 6-3 title win on Sunday at the ATP event in Gijon to take a tighter grasp on a possible spot at next month’s season wrapup.

The top seed at the Spanish Atlantic coast indoor tournament defeated Sebastian Korda in 77 minutes for his fourth trophy this season.

Rublev is hoping to punch his ticket to the eight-man ATP Finals in Turin for a third straight season.

“To win a title is always a special feeling because all the players are working to win a title and play the best tournaments,” he said/.

“To win one more title here in my career is really important for me.

“All the weeks are important for me because I am fighting for the Finals.”

Rublev finished with a flurry of 29 winners with just four unforced errors in the victory.

“It would be a really amazing feeling because this (Turin Finals) is the tournament players are dreaming of playing,” Rublev said.

“To qualify for three years in a row will be really important for me.”

Rublev, with a dozen career titles, now owns 47 wins this season and claimed previous titles at Marseille, Dubai and Belgrade.
