While admitting that he is still not fully fit after a late-season run of continuing back injury problems, Stefanos Tsitsipas won’t give up on his dream of finally winning a Grand Slam or Olympic gold medal.

The Greek ATP No. 6 who once stood third in the world, is struggling to gain traction as his 2024 start approaches, with his country involved in United Cup team play in Sydney from Friday.

Last year’s losing Australian Open finalist to Novak Djokovic was never able to rise to his Melbourne heights, going out in the second round of the US Open four months ago and then testing his back problems in a Middle East exhibition last week where he only fronted up for doubles.

“I don’t remember or think too much about what happened in Australia this year,” the 25-year-old said.

“My plan is to reset myself and look for something absolutely new this season with a different quality of tennis .”

Tsisipas added:that he’s dreaming big about the immediate future:

“Obviously I want to bring an Olympic medal to my country, that is one of my goals – and I want to win a Grand Slam title.

“But to be able to do these things I need to be healthy; there was a moment this season when circumstances did not allow me to perform at (even 10 per cent).

“I just hope I’m not so limited and can explore more in 2024.”
