Recovered Alcaraz feeling positive for Bercy

A few weeks off seem to have done the job for Carlos Alcaraz, with the Spaniard confirming he will be ready when the Paris Masters kicks off on Monday.

The 20-year-old Spaniard last competed a fortnight ago, losing in the Shanghai fourth round to Grigor Dimitrov.

The world No. 2 then put his season on pause to recover from niggling injuries and general fatigue.

His main physical problems were inflammation in his left foot and lower back discomfort.

Time on the sidelines means he missed this week’s Swiss Indoors in Basel where he reached the semi-finals a year ago.

“I have good news! I am feeling better every day and I will play Paris-Bercy and be in Turin for the ATP Finals! Excited to finish the year on a high!” Alcaraz posted on social media.

Paris could come down to a duel between Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic for the ATP top ranking, currently held by the Serb with the pair swapping the title back and forth all season long.

“It’s going to be tougher, if I want to be No 1. I have a few tournaments ahead, so I’ll try to do my best,” Alcaraz said.

“I’ll try to win them, if I want to have a chance to end the year as No 1.”
