The injury comeback effort of Milos Raonic lasted barely a week as the Canadian withdrew prior to his opening match at Queen’s club on Tuesday.

The Canadian who missed two years of Tour competition due to a series of physical setbacks, blamed a recurring shoulder problem for causing his latest setback.

Raonic, 32 and ranked 835 after his long absence, played two matches last week in the Netherlands as he made his return to the courts.

Ironically he was due to play Australian Jordan Thompson – who defeated him six days ago – in the opening round in London.
