Andy Murray turned the tables on wildcard entry Emilio Nava, sending the American to a 5-7, 6-3, 6-1, 6-0 second-round loss on Wednesday at the US Open.
The 2012 tournament champion administered a beat down as he lost just four games in the final three sets of his comeback.
Murray said he is playing his best tennis in recent memory.
“This is the best I’ve felt in the last few years,” the 35-year-old with two hip procedures in his resume said.
“I’m getting closer to where I want to be, Hopefully I can have a deep run here.”
Murray got to work after dropping the first set to a 203rd-ranked opponent who needed to win a long five-setter over John Millman to escape the first round.
“I started to take the ball earlier and hit bigger,” Murray said of his reversal in form. “I didnt allow him to dictate.
“His level dropped in the third and fourth sets, it’s not always easy to recover from a long five-setter.”
The Scot with three Grand Slam titles has reached the third round here for the first time since his 2016 quarter-final at Flushing Meadows.
