Andy Murray handily defeated Dan Evans in the quarterfinal of Mubadala World Tennis championships.

The match was around an hour and a half and Murray comfortably beat his fellow Brit 6-3, 6-2.

In the on-court interview Murray said: “We practise a lot together so we know each other’s games well and we always play a lot of long points. Dan has skills very few players have. It’s fun to play against him.”

“Being fit and healthy, being able to compete… I want to stay healthy for the next few years and see what I’ve got and stay competitive.”

Now Murray faces Rafael Nadal, with their last meeting being the semifinals of the 2016 Madrid Masters, which Murray won. “I didn’t know if I was going to get the opportunity to play matches like that again. Rafa is someone I’ve had battles with. It’ll be great to get the opportunity to play against him again, and hopefully we can put on a good performance for a couple of old guys.”

The pair of former world number ones have played 24 times, with Nadal leading 17 -7.
