British tennis bosses on Friday shut out fans from qualifying rounds at the Queen’s club event, with no reason given.

Puzzled officials at the upmarket members-only club were left to handle the fallout after the Lawn Tennis Association made the oddball call.

“(The tournament) is fully owned and operated by the @the_LTA with Queen’s being the host venue.

“The LTA has advised that there will be no public access for Qualifying Weekend this year,” a statement read.

Speculation online ranged from pure spite to budgetary concerns in an economy suffering a longtime cost of living crisis and a weakening fiscal

position.
