Jabeur out in China with knee injury

Ons Jabeur was caught by a knee injury on Thursday and forced to pull out of the WTA Zhengzhou event.

The two-time Wimbledon finalist was unable to pull up fit after defeating Lucia Bronzetti in an opening match in which Jabeur needed five match points to close out the match 6-3 7-6(5), the Tunisian announced she would be unable to continue in the event at the inland metropolis halfway between Beijing and Shanghai.

“I’m so sorry that I have to withdraw because my knee is not feeling so great,” the No. 7 Tunisian said.

“Hopefully I can come back next year.”

Jabeur would have faced Daria Kasatkina in the quarter-finals.
