Andy Murray’s Wimbledon could be in doubt after the three-time Grand Slam winner rolled an ankle during a loss at the Miami Masters.
The 36-year-old who looked like possibly hanging up his racquet this summer has vowed however to return to the sport as soon as he heals.
Murray lost at the weekend to Czech Tomas Machac, injuring his ankle in the process after stringing together two consecutive wins for the first time this season.
The Scot says he will be out of action for “an extended period,” giving no indication of a return date. He is suffering from a rupture of two ligaments”.
“(It) goes without saying this is a tough one to take,” he said, adding: “I’ll be back with one hip and no ankle ligaments when the time is right.”
