Andy Murray’s stab at the clay courts ended in disaster on Tuesday as Yannick Hanfmann came back to finish a first-round exit for the Scot at the ATP Geneva Open.

The German led a set and 4-1 on Monday when the match was interrupted by rain.

A dry period on Tuesday allowed the No. 85 to quickly send Murray packing onto Paris, with two more holds of serve all it took for a 7-5, 6-2 final result after one and three-quarter hours on court over two days..

Hanfmann earned a second-round spot against Novak Djokovic, another giant question mark after entering late to the 250 event after reportedly querying details of locker room facilities and player amenities at the tournament which he has never been anywhere near.

Djokovic will be desperate for a win after failing to claim a title this season and losing his third-round match in Rome two days after being accidentally¬†banged on the head by a water bottle which fell from an eager fan’s backpack.
