Full circle for Federer as Laver Cup returns to London

Roger Federer will come home to his spiritual tennis roots in autumn, 2026, as the Laver Cup returns to London.

The Swiss who ended his brilliant career with retirement at the 2022 Laver edition at the O2 arena, will be back as a VIP guest at next season’s edition, to be played September 25-27.

The 43-year-old won eight Wimbledon titles and lifted year-end Masters trophies at the East London indoor venue in 2010 and 2011.

The O2 hosted the season wrapup ATP World Tour Finals from 2009 to 2020 as well as the Laver Cup three years ago. Next year’s edition will be the first repeat venue for the Laver competition which Federer’s management company dreamed up nearly a decade ago.

“My final match in 2022 was filled with emotion and unforgettable memories – being surrounded by my teammates who were also my greatest rivals – it was everything I could have hoped for,” Federer said in a statement.

“I’m really looking forward to returning to such a meaningful place, this time as a fan, and experiencing the incredible Laver Cup atmosphere once again.”

The event made its debut in Prague, 2017, and has since been held in Chicago (2018), Geneva (2019), Boston (2021), London (2022), Vancouver (2023), Berlin (2024).

This autumn it will travel to San Francisco from September 19-21. Team Europe leads the historical series 5-2, with the Rest of the World winning the last two editions.
