First round shock as local hero Vukic beats Harris

Local wildcard Aleksandar Vukic produced a shock on day one of the Australian Open with a four-set upset South African Lloyd Harris.

Vukic won a tight battle on Court 3, winning 4-6 6-3 7-5 7-6 (7-3) in two hours and 53 minutes.

The 25-year-old received a standing ovation from a delighted home crowd.

His will play Moldovan qualifier Radu Albot in the second round.
