Fernandez maintains US Open form

Leylah Fernandez started her Indian Wells run with a victory over ninth seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, continuing her giant-slaying streak.

The Canadian US Open finalist beat the Russian French Open finalist in a hard fought three sets 5-7, 6-3, 6-4. 

Fernandez goes on to face world number 44 Shelby Rogers in round three. The American previously made round 4 of the US Open, defeating world number one, Ash Barty on the way.
