Felix Auger-Aliassime kept in sharp focus on Wednesday as the winner of his last two events began this week at the Swiss Indoors with a 6-7(3), 6-4, 6-4 win over Marc-Andrea Huesler.

Victory at the St Jakobshalle kept the Canadian in the running for a spot in the ATP Finals next month in Turin as well as staying in the chase for a third straight tournament title.

FAA claimed back-to-back trophies this month in Florence and last weekend in Antwerp.

He took just over an hour and a quarter to hold off the 62nd-ranked local challenger, title-winner in early October at Sofia.

“It’s been a long season,” the winner said. “I’m just taking it day by day. I’m feeling good physically.

“I hope to keep it going here.”

FAA said the mental aspect of the contest was demanding. “We were indoors, playing quick points and both serving well.

“You need to stay focussed and locked in for two hours. If you get an opportunity and take it, you get a break.

“This was not an easy match so I’m happy to get through.”
